Hydroptere, the world’s fastest sailboat, is about to set sail on a voyage to claim the transpacific speed record for a wind-powered vessel.
A marvel of engineering and materials technology, using a carbon composite and titanium frame design that floats up to 15 feet above the water. To reduce water drag and improve its aerodynamic shape, Hydroptere features a primary central foil and a pair of wings on either side that raise the ship above the surface at cruising speed. At full sail, the Hydroptere can reach speeds of up to 52 mph (83,7 km/h), a blinding speed for a sail-driven craft.

The X-Bow is an inverted ship’s bow designed by Ulstein Group to improve handling in rough sea, and to lower fuel consumption by causing less hydrodynamic drag.

The Wally 118 WallyPower is arguably the most distinctive and fastest motor yacht in the world with 3 turbine engines producing 16,800 hp, for a top speed of 110 km/h (68.4 mph).

USA-17 (formerly known as BMW Oracle Racing 90 or BOR90) is a 90 ft (27 m) LWL, 90 ft (27 m) beam, sloop rigged one-off racing sail trimaran built by the USA sailing team BMW Oracle Racing for use in a Deed of Gift challenge for the 33rd America’s Cup.
Designed by VPLP Yacht Design with consultation from Franck Cammas and his Groupama multi-hull sailing team, BOR90 is very light for her size being constructed almost entirely out of carbon fiber and epoxy resin, and exhibits very high performance being able to sail at 2.0 to 2.5 times the true wind speed (though some rumors have claimed 4× TWS). She can apparently sail at 20 degrees off the apparent wind.
The boat sails so fast downwind that the apparent wind she generates is only 5-6 degrees different to that when she is racing upwind; that is, the boat is always sailing upwind with respect to the apparent wind and thus ‘sailing faster than the wind‘.
The USA-17 trimaran won the 2010 America’s Cup from the defending champion Alinghi 5 in February.

The Wally 50m is the first mega yacht of this size completely built in advanced composites (carbon fibre) as requested by the client who likes great comfort without having to give up performance.
To imporve even further the performance, she will feature PBO rigging, the water tanks will be used as water ballast as well, and the lifting keel increasing the draft to 6m when sailing, from 4.2 meter when motoring, anchoring and entering ports. As a result, this Mega Sailer features a light displacement (only 230 tons - 485,017 lbs) combined with the accommodation and comforts of a yacht of this size.
The Wally 118 WallyPower is arguably the most distinctive and fastest motor yacht in the world.
Its three gas turbine engines produce 17,000 horsepower, propelling the 118 to more than 60 knots (110 km/h). With its striking vertical bow it cuts through the water with unmatched stability and control so that even at high speeds the experience is pure Wally.
With bright and spacious interiors the 118 is a truly unique combination of the thrills of a high-performance sport boat with the comforts of a luxury cruising yacht.
